what bit depth does standard MP3 Bitrate(128kbps, 320kbps) uses?

Hi,

I understand that the Bitrate comes from Bit Depth and Sample Rate.

However, what bit depth or sample rate does MP3 converter like iTunes uses for converting WAV into 128kbps/320kbps MP3?

And if I choose 320kbps and 44.1KHz as the Bitrate and Sample Rate, does it mean that the bit depth is around 4 bit?

Thanks!
